Profile of the Indonesian ESP Teachers Community
The Indonesian ESP Teachers Community (IETC) was established in February 2021 (SK Kemenkumham: AHU-0000467.AH.01.07 Tahun 2023) as a platform for lecturers of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) who teach in non-English departments across Indonesia. This community was founded with the primary goal of supporting the professional development of ESP practitioners through knowledge exchange, collaboration, and continuous learning.
IETC regularly organizes activities that promote professional growth, such as sharing sessions, where members present and discuss their best practices in ESP teaching, and expert sharing sessions, which bring insights from professionals and scholars in the field. At least once a year, the community invites an expert or a practitioner in ESP, ensuring that members stay updated with the latest trends, practices, and research in ESP.
By fostering collaboration and dialogue among its members, the Indonesian ESP Teachers Community has become a supportive hub where lecturers can improve their teaching practices, broaden their perspectives, and contribute to the advancement of ESP teaching in Indonesia.
This community, as the largest ESP community in Indonesia, has 233 registered members from various higher education institutions across different regions in Indonesia.
